Creativity

Some days I feel desperate for a change of pace.  But then I fall into place with my day to day life- and I realize that I already have a bit of excitement in my life.
See below for a few ideas to grab onto- if you haven't already

Anger

"The greatest remedy for anger is delay." -Seneca

This is one of my greatest challenges.  Maybe one day I will come close to overcoming it.

more than meets the eye

Check out this guy- doesn't look like much on the outside, but has the voice of one of the best tenors in the world- plus he's a good friend to boot.  This is what it's all about.

Do it with love

God doesn't look at how much we do, but with how much love we do it.

Different Perspective

Sometimes I get lost in my own path and forget to look outside of my immediate view.  What do you see below?  A beautiful room?

In reality, its the inside of a violin.  An instrument that can be held in your hands to create a beautiful sound.  See more views of the insides of other instruments, here.  And try to see something different from the things in your daily view.

Growing Old

I've decided to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.  I've learned a few things (more than a few) throughout this falling in love process.  One of the most important is that your head can screw with you, but your gut never will.  The secret is determining which one is doing the talking.

I've also learned I can be a control freak, I try to rush through to the punch line all too quickly, and I'm sensitive.  I learned I need to hear why he loves me and how much- because it feels good, and because I just like to hear it since I can be a control freak, rush, etc.  Good thing he's on board with helping me out where it counts.

I'm thrilled to grow old with my guy- in every way that is mentioned in the video below:

Kindness

"My religion is very simple.  My religion is kindness." -Dalai Lama

I love the above- but isn't it true that all religions should be based on kindness?

Hobbies

"To be really happy and really safe, one ought to have at least two or three hobbies, and they must all be real." Winston Churchill
You can't always work.  And you can't always have fun.  There's got to be a balance.  This quote reminds me of something my best friend P told me she heard:  each couple should have an activity they do together inside (chess, cards, etc), and another they can do outside (tennis, golf, etc).
Makes sense, no?

Acceptance- a novel concept

‎"Whatever you resist becomes difficult… whatever you accept becomes easy."

At a certain point, we have to embrace when we have to give in or give up.  I'm a stubborn girl, and I've never liked to give up, or admit when I'm wrong.  It's as though it's against my nature.

But I've learned sometimes I've got to accept things and move on.

How does our culture, ethnicity or race inform us of our confidence levels?

I was reading this article and felt frustrated by it, but also felt pleased by knowing that some people aren't so hard on themselves in this world.

There is something to be said for being healthy and fit.  That will always be important.  But there is something else to be said for being normal, not perfect, but still comfortable in your own skin.  That is where I think we should, as women, aspire to be.  Not a number on a scale, or a particular size dress.  No matter what culture, ethnicity, or race we are.

According to the article, "The notion that all women must be culled into a single little-bitty aesthetic is just one more tyranny, they say. And black women have tools for resisting tyranny, especially from a mainstream culture that has historically presented them negatively, or not at all.
Freed from that high-powered media gaze, generations of black women have fashioned their own definitions of beauty with major assists from literature and music — and help from their friends."

I'd be happy to know your thoughts.

Anything's possible

Another inspiring story about someone accomplishing the seemingly impossible.

Being Average

"Accepting oneself does not preclude an attempt to become better." -Flannery O'Connor

I realized a long time ago that being average wasn't a bad thing.  Being average at most things is actually quite normal.  I accept that.  However, being OK isn't good enough.  You still have to strive for something better.  The moment that you are satisfied with OK, you stop moving toward progress.
