Kefi is described as "The spirit of joy, passion, enthusiasm, high spirits, or frenzy. The custom of smashing plates is considered an expression of kefi, when the soul and body are overwhelmed with an exuberance that must find an outlet."
When you go to Greece, (and by all means, go as soon as possible) you will hear this word thrown around. And you will start to see it in the faces of the people. It appeared as though most Greeks don't have a care in the world. The Kefi they have provides a spirit of contentment. As a Greek-American, I'm still learning to find my Kefi, but life's a journey, no?
Where's your Kefi?
(note to readers: my next dog's name will probably either Kefi or Koukla, heads up)
