"Everything was beautiful, and nothing hurt" - Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.

It seems foolish to consider there is any validity to the above quote from Vonnegut's book, "Slaughterhouse Five."  I've actually never read the book, but came across the quote and began to study it.  Upon further inspection, it seems it is an idealist vision of paradise.  As Liz Lemon said, "I want to go to there!" (video below)

It's fun to dream and be optimistic.  But at a certain point, we have to be real with ourselves.

Further research notes the context of the quote is about death and free will.  We can aspire to see everything as beautiful and try not to let anything hurt us.  It probably won't happen, but it's worth a shot- I mean, who wouldn't want to experience a place where "Everything was beautiful, and nothing hurt?"
